The Artifacts
On 1.5% of the fields, artifacts are hidden. They can only be found on land tiles. For every hero ability, there are artifacts that can boost that ability by 1 to 5 levels. Higher-level artifacts are rarer than lower-level ones. Through artifacts, warriors can also obtain abilities normally reserved for settlers – and vice versa. However, the maximum levels of 20 for main abilities and 5 for secondary abilities cannot be exceeded, even with artifacts.
Finding Artifacts
Spies can search for artifacts on any land tile – whether their own, neutral, or enemy. If a field has already been searched, a compass appears next to the field coordinate in the field view (1). In addition, you can set the “Show searched fields” option to “yes” under “Settings.” This will mark already searched fields on the map with a reddish-brown color.
If a spy is carrying an artifact, a ring (💍) appears next to their name – both in the field view and in the unit overview. Each spy can only carry one artifact and cannot search for more as long as they are already carrying one.
Passing Artifacts
To pass an artifact, the units must be on the same field. Spies can pass an artifact to another spy or to a hero by clicking the ring symbol (1) in the field view. This brings up a menu (2), allowing you to select spies or heroes who still have free artifact slots.
Using Artifacts
Only heroes can use the abilities of artifacts. Heroes up to level 10 can carry one artifact, up to level 20 two, up to level 30 three, and from level 31 onward up to four. Clicking on an artifact (1) in the hero view gives detailed information about its abilities and allows it to be passed to another spy or hero on the same field. If an artifact increases the level of an existing ability, it is displayed in parentheses next to the level (2). If the artifact gives the hero a new ability, this ability is highlighted in bold (3).
Stealing Artifacts
During war, spies can steal artifacts from enemy heroes. The chances of success are the same as for uncovering enemy spies. Enemy spies will always defend their hero, so stealing artifacts is almost impossible unless all enemy spies have been unmasked. Artifacts carried by spies, however, cannot be stolen.
Lost Artifacts
If a spy is killed, any artifact they are carrying is irretrievably lost. However, defeated heroes and spies retain their artifacts.
