Mountain Fortress

Mountain fortresses can be built in the mountains. Unlike castles, harbors or cities, they can be built without distance rules. However, they do not provide a bonus for population growth. Depending on the expansion level, mountain fortresses provide a defense bonus. As with castles, trebuchets can reduce the defense bonus of mountain fortresses by up to 90%. The same applies to spies, who can infiltrate mountain fortresses. Unlike castles, mountain fortresses do not give a bonus to the number of troops and defeated armies retreat normally.

Mountain fortresses have slots in which ballista positions, lighthouses, resting places or mangonels can be built.
